Description: Heating with biomass is considered carbon neutral because all of the carbon that is released was recently in the atmosphere and not from a fossil source. The ash will be used to make a waterproof barrier to hold water in my natural pool. Any char created will be made into biochar to sequester some CO2.

Description: Update on the ‘Mandala Garden’ When I first made the garden, I applied 100kg of biochar to the soil and gave it a good seed bomb, I’ve since applied 400kg of locally available sugarcane trash as a ground cover, and about 2 cubic meters of local woodchip mulch for the pathways. Now we are coming into wet season many of the seeds which have been laying dormant are sprouting into life, I love seeing something new every time I walk through the garden! The main crops currently include bananas, pigeon peas, watermelons, pumpkins, sunflowers, buckwheat, daikon radish, sweet potatoes, turmeric and ginger.
